Some kind of wild onion?

By timduck
I've always supposed these were some species of wild onion. ( I bet someone knows.) They grow in our flower beds, are quite prolific, and probably couldn't be eradicated even if I wanted. They bloom wildly in the hottest parts of summer; when everything else has given up.
