Found a fantastic location at Faro Marina for some great shots. However, I soon started to struggle as I only had my 50mm prime, in fact its the only lens I own for the moment as I'm trying to get to grips with the basics of photography.

What do yer think of this. I tried my arse off trying to get something good, but it was very hard work to find any angle/shot that really worked. I liked the rusty old O ring, but again I struggled to get it in well. I finally came up with this using a smallish aperture to try and keep the foreground more in focus (wasn't looking for focus, may have looked odd). Added the widescreen effect stretching the canvas to 4:3, which seemed to give the picture more of a story. Anyway, opinions appreciated.

its quite an interesting shot, due to the way you have framed the people, and the "wide-angle" look. =)

Lovely image, a slight tweek in the levels may have shown the rusty O ring off to even better effect. Nice shot though.

It's an exelent shot. You have framed the subject well, but I would have croped the left hand side to put more emphasis on the subject

Great frame thru the arch. I like the way you've included foreground interest in the rusty ring. The composition of elements within the arch is a little crowded perhaps? It would have been good to see a little more of the arch on the right side too. Good image tho. Well done.

it is done very well, you have a good approach to learning about photography, it's what I HAD to do for the first 3 months, nothing but a 50mm lens... often found it frustrating, but it was a fantastic exrecise, love it, click (*:*)
