THE ICON OF WHITBY

By Tish1
Important things first; many thanks as always for taking the time to view and comment on my previous upload 'Abusing WB'. Additional thanks must go to Willie [banehawi] for his terrific mod, love the colours in it and special thanks to Mark[tc] for generously awarding his UA.

A message for Willie, but since I know you lot are dead nosy, you can also put your two pennath in or dollars, yen, Euro etc..........................

A little problem with the EXIF; it appears that PSE 12 doesn't like to upload it, actually, it just likes to swollow it up, spit it out and then totally ignore it. The EXIF data is present and available in the Organiser, but not once it has been post processed. I transfered an image that had been processed in PSE 12 to LR and saved it under a different name, but still no EXIF. I then imported this batch of images into LR did a little bit of what evers just to say it had been processed and all the EXIF was there, including my camera lens.

I have checked my preferences in PSE 12 in the 'Saving Files' dialogue under 'File Compatability' there is an UNTICKED box which reads 'ignore camera data [exif] profiles.

Although my images are shot in Raw, as is required by EPZ I save them as JPEGs, so, I am at a loss as to why the EXIF has done a runner such that I have to manually input the EXIF from the Organiser info, which is very time consuming.

Anyway, today, I am offering you the opportunity for one day only to have a peak at one of my favourite places in the UK, it is non other than Whitby in North Yorkshire and of course Whitby Abbey, which, I have no doubt you have had the pleasure of viewing numerous times, given how popular it is.

I was extremely disappointed because we couldn't actually get into the grounds, it was closed and apparently there is now an entrance fee. So it was tripod at full extension in order to clear the high wall and me stretched on my tip toes trying to operate the camera.

This wasn't the image that I had planned in my head, but hey, you can't have everything. Especially since earlier in the day I had managed to lock myself out of my car and this absolutely gorgeous young man had skillfully broken into my car without any damage to unlock it for me. In addition to the fifty quid, I gave him a whacking great kiss, simply because such opportunities no longer present themselves for me these days and a girl must always maximise her opportunities.

Please enjoy Whitby Abbey; I will now have to go back and pay the entrance fee in order to attempt to achieve the image that is floating around my head.

Very interesting adventures Trish. Next time you go back there will be various moody clouds in your sky. I like V2 best yet V1 is fine and the magic of 3 and 4 are ghostly and fun. Maybe a light sepia version would look good as well. V2 is great though! TG

A great set of images Tish. I always shot RAW, upload into LR, all my processed images are saved as JPEG, these JPEG images are uploaded to EPZ. SmileSmile

Hi Tish, V2 is my favorite, the best detail and you could even make it a stop darker, for sure this would enhance this and bring even more of the clouds out....John

I think I must have stood in exactly the same spot in the past, Tish Grin... and then headed on down into town for F&C!

Great shot from over that high wall, Tish! I remember a few years ago, you could just enter the grounds of the Abbey through a gateway in the wall surrounding it, then someone in their wisdom decided to restore the nearby run-down building, use it as a Visitor Centre and make this the only way into the grounds for a fat fee! It's not as though there's a lot to see in the Visitor Centre, either... Sad

You don't have to shoot in Raw, but you have to upload as a JPEG.

If I was the farmer in the next field I would build a mobile platform, put a gate on it and charge photographers one pound, no body objects to paying a pound but, four pound fifty to pay to go on land that actually belongs to me because I am a tax payer, rankles me

That exif check-box you mentioned is to prevent comments from exif being copied.

Will check back later

Thanks for the link Willie, I have posted it as a problem with an addendum which suddenly occurred to me, which may or may not be significant as follows..................

A thought has just occurred to me, which may or may not be significant. When the image opens in Edit I immediately make a duplicate but save it under a different name in order to preserve the original, so throughout the process I am actually working with the duplicate because of course I end up with two tabs in Edit.

You simply can not get better F&C's than in Whitby, drove there one day just for the F&C's, never managed to get in the Magpie, always a queue.

Its a lovely view Tish of one of the most favourite place to see and take photos of. I did thesame climbed all those steps and then couldnt get inside unless paid an enterence fee........ Of course you being slightly taller than me (I know I am a titch) you managed so well with the tripod to take a superb photo of the Abbey, V1 for me Tish its looking good in colour.
