...or has it just begun?
There are a few folks on the site, who have been aware of the sadness and gloom, which has been hanging over the Tomcat household for the last few weeks.
Others much to their credit, have pitched in with messages/comments of support, without knowing what was actually occuring.
Without attempting to rewrite The Rise and fall of the Roman empire here is a brief outline.
Michaela's (Mrs T) mum was diagonised about two years ago, with what can only be described as a cross between Huntingdons and Motor neurone. Even the specialists were not sure, apart from the fact that there are/were only about six other similar cases in the country.
We have seen a fit active woman,in a short space of her life, go from walking sticks, zimmer frame, wheelchair and stairlift, to the final resort of a hospital bed being installed on the ground floor.
She had been on numerous pain killing drugs for some considerable time (Morphine and the likes), but on the Wednesday before Easter, the disease took hold big time. So much so, that the initial thoughts were that she had had a stroke. The doctors didn't think she would outlast the Easter holiday, but being the fighter she was, she stayed in this world until 9.30am this morning.
She had beeen virtually comatosed for the last week, so one would hope that she had not suffered the intense pain, that had been racking her body for the last few weeks.
Her wish was that she died at home and thanks to the 24/7 devotion of her daughter and also of the District nurses who came several times a day to top up the syringe driver and administer extra painkilling drugs by direct injection, her wish was granted.
Laraine was only 62 years old when she passed away this morning
