Old Metal Advertising Posters

By Tonksfest
I visited Beamish and noticed these old advertising metal posters, I'm not sure if advertising bill boards were used then as we see them today being printed on paper, but the metal posters stood out and looked unique. Do any elderly members remember them ? I feel fortunate that I have captured something that I may never see or my children will never see again. It's good to see these old enamelled signs being displayed, Michael, and you have a neat image of a group, with a nice fence behind. I was in the antiques trade for 20 years and handled quite a few, but condition was paramount because they obviously go rusty and get scratched. Nowadays they are reproduced in their thousands, so your children are very likely to see them in a retro setting. The old ones always command a good price and, as with all antiques, the rarer they are, the more expensive they are. They covered a multitude of subjects. It took a long time for them to go "out of fashion" as pure advertising signs, and I am sure a lot of people remember them.
