Sidecar '37 Dispatch Bike Replica

By tonyguitar
This is a Russian made Ural. Looks like a copy of the sidecar that German troops used during the second world war. At least the one used in movies about that war. Was that supposed to be a BMW? Thanks for ident on this replica goes to David in Bulgaria.

Yes,I have saw a few of these getting shot up in the films Tony.
If I was a German,I would only travel about in a Panzer Tank !!
Good shots.

Russians copied the BWM after getting this motorbike from Swedes. A team of 3 men did 'reverse engineering' bolt to bolt and made the blueprint from where these Ural motorbikes, which until the early 2000 I know they were still in production. There is a green version - military style- and a more -off road- version too. There wasn't any electrical starter and to start the engine you had to make 2 attempts, it was almost guaranteed they would start with the second attempt. Nice set of pictures. Voted
According to their website, the Ural is still in production. There is a company in England that imports them. Apparently, they are becoming very popular there. Here is a link to their page:

It's wonderful when ePZers David and Pablo contribute background information to one's images. These sidecar photos mean much more to me now. The Russians are so enterprising. They sell tons of cartons of bargain cigaretts in plain brown wrapping by mail worldwide,.. for instance.
And thanks for your comments too friends. TG
