A good contrast between light and shade. I think it balances quite well. There is just enough shadow detail on the LHS to this effect.
The line of the receding post suggests to me that the angle of view chosen was the correct one.

this looks to me like an area that I'd carry a big stick or have a big dog with me or even a body guard..it definitely has mood to it. nice sheen upon the cobblestones though.
its amazing how rain can change the colour of the cobbles
