Cracked up

By tonymarq
Hi everyone and sorry i haven't been around as we were a way for a couple of days before the start of the school year plans were destroyed and cut short due to very nasty weather. Won't give away where we were as that would give away this famous crack which i'm sure Jenn (taggart) knows what it is as it is in her home state so Jenn don't give it away, lol! think this is pretty easy one but have fun and can you guess this famous crack in American History!

stay well

Yo! not so sunny here-- but they did cancel the flood warnings-- and sure thing, I do know about this crack!

Good that you made it home safe and sound! Thanks goodness for truckers!

Jenn don't you dare give it away, lol or that would be cheating as you have the inside track on this one, lol! Jenn the weather is downright misserable here and the wind has been non stop! Ty grabbed every flas light in the house as we had a brown out. oh well to be expected when your in upstate.

Judith thanks so much and felt great getting home after a 6 hour drive..

Stay well

Hi Tony, I like the shot, great crop. As to the identity, I am not hot on American history but a bit of a sponge for facts. I assume this is the liberty bell in Philadelphia. Thats all I know I am afraid, It seemed to crop up at times when I was a kid.

As far as i can recall Tony...the original bell which was cast in England cracked on its first test in Philly and two local metal founders were given the task of melting it down and recasting it...there names were Pass/Stow or something like that...the new bell then cracked but I dont believe anyone can put an exact date to it

have a great day

Hi Tony,I agree about the Liberty Bell that'd be my guess too,the textures, colour, date partially hidden and the detail at the bottom makes me think it is the bell.Excellent abstract shot Tony with brilliant light/shade.Beautiful.Take care.AnnSmile

Hi Tony,
Sorry your break was cut short by the bad weather.
We did have American history taught over here you know, so of course I know what it is & where it is, but I won't say a word.
Great abstract image.

Hey you guys know your history and glad to see Adrian with amazing detail as the bell was cast in London and on it's first ring did crack and Pass & Stow were local Smiths who were contracted to recast the bell. Excellent guys and knew it would be fun!

stay well

Hey Tony, well we do get some American history in Canada, but we're too proud to admit it. I'd have to say it's the bell they ring when there's a winner on American Idol!

Like that you've gone for a bit of a non-traditional shot with this 'crack'. Most people go for the whole bell.

Thanks for your comments on my 'laptop'. After I had walked away I kind of realized that perhaps she should be working on it. O well, always room for improvement!
