  • Big Hill

Mellbreak. I've been on top of it twice!

Lovely shot as it is but I wonder if you'd moved left and put the gate on the bottom left 'third' whether the eye would have been led through the gate to the hill beyond. Nice shot though of a nice place.

  • Come on, just one bite, please.

Well caught - a shot that also tells a story. Wonder what the fish is thinking!

Well caught. Someone needs to talk to him about interesting colour schemes though......

An excellent shot. Love the 'fan' of water from the ski.

  • Sunset

Thanks folks. I was passing through the Peak District and had the camera because I thought it was going to be a good sunset. It was and I had a frantic couple of minutes braving nettles and brambles to get to the waters edge before the sun set behind the western-side hill. Used a roll (over the reservoir area) and got some nice results from it. Ian, I agree about the noise. The sky is genuine, there was a little cloud to the east and I have just used a (very slight) gradient to help the sky. The neg was scanned on my Canon 4000US scanner to a 48 bit 56mb file. Whilst very happy with the scanner I've noticed before it does tend to produce a little noise in areas of light tone and I guess sharpening enhances it.

Thank you all, perhaps it would be better if I cloned the corner.

  • Hill Climb

    Thanks both.
That was the first time I've ever been to a hill climb Simon, I was desperate to try out my new (s/h) Eos 3 and found the event on the net. I thought it was great so yes if I'm around I might well go to the July meet. My son Andrew spotted you (well your 20d anyway!) so we'll say hello if we see you around again. Your portfolio is cracking by the way - a lot of first-rate stuff there including your Harewood shot.

Moody and mysterious. Very nice and thought provoking.

  • Frog

Excellent shot. Well captured. I think it's a shame that there is a yellow 'thing' in the background a leafy type think in the foreground. It's just luck though I suppose. I've never tried to photograph frogs and I am glad I haven't.

Cracking sports shot, you can 'see' the rider attacking the corner. Well done

Beautiful shot. I think the green of the centre boat helps hold your attention. Would make a great poster.

  • Venetian visitor

Thanks for commenting folks. I only had about 2 hours in Venice so I avoided any of the major sites and wandered around the backstreets. This is the last of a number of this lady and her group as she was left alone on the bridge. I'm not sure whether it would be better without her or not but I wish she'd had a bright red coat on!!

A striking shot, well done. Maybe just a touch off the bottom might help?

  • The Farm

Oops! Dead right, I was rushing to prepare and upload it in my 10 minutes of space on the family computer and missed the obvious. Glad you like it though, thanks for commenting.

  • The final frontier

Good!! I think the planet needs to be detached a little more from the station though - it appears to be resting on it. But good, you nearly had me fooled there!!

  • Cement Works

Thanks folks. Taken late pm yesterday it was the smoke I spotted - I just like the way the factory is swallowed up by the landscape but the smoke is caught by the light. I'm drawn to man's influence on the landscape - must get out more. Lots of cameras in evidence on Stanage yesterday, I know I've got loads of raw files to sort out today.

  • Derbyshire Glow

Yes - but not as much as might seem. It was shot in RAW and exposed for the cloud break so I didn't blow out the highlights. Then tweaking in PS really - including cloning out some farmer's rubbish!

Wonderfully atmospheric but do you think just cropping out (or cloning out) that dark shoreline area bottom right would help? Nonetheless great. Would look good on the wall.

Lovely panorama Iain of a wild and beautiful place. It reminds me of my visit to 'The Window' on a dark winter's night a long time ago....
