Mrs Gladys Cooper's Sideboard.

By Tooma
One From Mo
I have decided to make "One From Mo" a regular Monday feature for a time. This will give you something different to view, hopefully enjoy, and it means one less pic of my own to prepare.

Maureen has recently come up with an idea to feature Still Lifes inspired by people she knows/has known, as well as some invented characters. I shall let her describe todays image:-
"Mrs Gladys Cooper was a very dear lady, who was chief babysitter for my brother and me. She made the best egg mayonnaise sandwiches I have ever tasted. She loved her garden, cats (she had a beautiful black cat, name of Snookums - often shortened to "Snooks") and she collected bars of soap(!). She had umpteen pairs of glasses, which she changed with baffling frequency, and she was endearingly forgetful; having been spotted, more than once, wearing odd earrings. She was a true lady. One of my fondest childhood memories is holding her hand as she led me around her garden to look at all the flowers. It was in Mrs Cooper's garden that I first saw Forget-Me-Nots, which seems appropriate now as she has never been forgotten.".

A lovely idea Mo-- and why do you not join epz?

I had a Mrs. Cooper friend-- we called her Aunt Kay--- she let us drink coca cola way back when! and NEVER walked in a garden.

If your Gladys Cooper was from Warwick, I can share further stories of her....

My Gladys Cooper was one of my memorable wartime Junior-school teachers, who I got to know even better as she aged.....

A great story and well staged shot Tom, I fondly remember great Aunts that toured me around their rose gardens and gold fish ponds
