Out On The Edge - Night Edit.

By Tooma
Once again, it is time for:-

Mo says, "On this day we had ventured down to Portpatrick for a delightful trip to the coast and to visit a dear old friend from my days in the circus, Dan Dan the Kangaroo Man. Dan Dan retired many moons ago and now resides in "Miss Birtwhistles Rest and Retirement Cottages For Former Entertainers and The Criminally Insane - and Lawn Mower Repair Centre". (Dan Dan had originally gone there because he had been a performing artiste, you understand, and not because he was criminally insane...although unfortunately it did transpire that what we all thought was just part of his act - hopping everywhere and carrying a small chihuahua called Senor BonBon in the pocket of a macrame poncho - was in fact a symptom of a very rare and highly dangerous mental condition and he is in fact quite quite mad).

Well, after a lovely visit with Dan Dan (marred only by one rather disturbing episode where he had to be pinned to the lino and given sips of Ovaltine with a dash of Clozapine) we headed to the sea front in the hopes of getting some shots of the world famous (Perth to Giggleswick) Portpatrick Senior Citizens Synchronised Swim Team, who had been practicing all week for an upcoming performance at the Dudley Lido. Tom also had hopes of catching a glimpse of a mermaid or two, having assured me that a dear friend had posted several photographic evidence shots here on Ephotozine that these elusive and beguiling creatures do indeed exist.
So, here he is; out scanning the water for pensioners and mermaids. Incidentally he saw neither but at least I got this marvellous shot of the back of his head.".

V1 is her original day shot. Mo also took the pic of the moon.

Wonderful work Mo
Love the story and makes me want to know what Dan Dan got up to before he retired.
Tell Tom to keep watching for the mermaids, but he will probably screw up the shot WinkWinkWink. Perhaps will have more luck with the pensioners

Well done that man, and Mo! An absolute delight to see, and a joy to read.Grin There will, of course, be a sensible and considered appraisal and response as soon as time permits. Being retired I seem to have less time than ever!!!

As usual, thank you for the laugh, and keep looking....the mermaids are amongst us!

Congratulations Mo - you have won the 'Gwendoline Fondant Pink Gin' prize for Services to Literature and the Visual Arts.' Being myself a Batchelor o Farts (I'm sure there's a problem with this steam powered typewriter) I am naturally quick to recognise talent when I encounter it and I've encountered it right now. I am busily preparing for a busy season with The Green Arrows Lawn Mower Display Team and we hope to cut a swathe through the more prosaic offerings on offer at a number of country shows during the coming year. As for the mermaids I have it on good authority that they are only to be found in Northamptonshire, though why this should be remains a mystery.
Yours till the gin runs dry, Cyril Joystick.

Well it is certainly different! It has a touch of mystique about it and the story also aids to the final result.

In my defence of Mo's mockish mocking tone, I see you mock, Mo, I submit the following link as proof of the existence of mermaids; before I do, I should warn all you seekers after truth, as well as those who only seek to mock me more, mermaids are smaller, even allowing for scale and distance than most people would expect, none the less and none the more, here it is, here is the proof, with grateful thanks to our very own bluesandtwos for his intrepid photo journalism:-

Ericsamson :- I do look forward to seeing some pics of your Green Arrows Lawn Mower Display Team in action. I expect you will be busy in cunning planning and preparation for the coming summer months. Remember the 6 Ps for guaranteed success in such mighty endeavours - Proper Planning Postpones

Another wonderfully entertaining upload, Tom!
I must try to locate Dudley Lido - a place that has eluded me as a life long resident of said borough!!
I suppose the local leisure centre will have to do!Smile
