This week I hadn’t been able to get out for a walk on Dartmoor because I was up in Wiltshire for a work reunion to say cheerio to my former boss. This involved some drinking on Tuesday evening therefore on Wednesday morning I needed to kill some time before the 3 hour drive back home. We were staying in the Castle Hotel in Devizes so after breakfast I took my Leica M9 out with a 35mm lens on and shot some B&W photos of the town.
PS, I did manage to get one shot on the moor it's the last shot.
Castle Hotel with the Church behind it.
Devizes is an old Market Town steeped in history with loads of interesting sculptures/architecture.
I thought this Bug Hotel was funny but in a town like Devizes it will provide much needed habitat for all sorts of bugs.
Devizes is also quite famous for its Canal with 29 Locks, this one is the actual Devizes Lock.
When I was working I stayed in Devizes frequently for the last 5 or 6 years and in all that time I never had time to wander around the town like I did this week, I found a real Castle which I never knew was there. It was clearly marked as private property so I could only shoot from the outside of the grounds where I could get a glimpse of it.
For those of you who are still here (thank you), this is a shot of Vixen Tor on Dartmoor that I managed to snag between the travelling and bad weather.
That’s all for this week folks, hopefully back to normal next week. As always, comments welcome.
