Too little depth of field here for real impact. A much smaller aperture would have enabled you to get more of the picture clear.

I disagree. I think limiting depth of field in situations like this can help the viewer to concentrate on what is important.

However, I think the image might have been stronger had you placed the leading edge of the cartouche (I think that's what the oval thing is called...) more parallel with the edge of the frame. This would cause the line of hieroglyphs to recede much more symmetrically, leading to a more dynamic composition...
