OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I had been doing a craft show Labor Day Weekend in Lancaster, late summer, and I was photographing the tobacco field that led off this series....and another photographer was there...and mentioned that there was a barn with the front open about a quarter mile back down the road toward Lancaster...I drove back and there it was. The was a young Amish boy in the barn...and i asked him if i could take photos...initially he said no...I said i was not trying to photograph him...so he went below with the livestock and left me alone. Fortunately, i had my tripod with me, as the only light was the open end of the barn...for anyone who does not recognize it...the drying leaves in the lead and versions is tobacco. In the Conestoga River Valley, in the 1800's, the Amish (and others) grew so much cigar tobacco the the slang term for cigar, "stogie" came from there.
A grateful thanks to Alan Basely for his UA for my locomotive photos.
