Battling the Elements

By trekpete
Hiking in the mountains is not all blue skies and sunshine with endless views. This is my friend Richie battling near whiteout conditions on Saturday morning on Meall a'Bhuiridh. The weather did brighten up later thankfully and we got some stunning views from the summit by early afternoon. Damned cold mind you. The wind chill was at least -20c.

Superb image.
The thumbnail doesn't stand out so it might not get the attention it deserves but doesn't mean it's not a fine shot!

People look at your images from the tops of mountains and think it's easy, just a walk up a hill. This proves otherwise and also the danger of mountain walking, clear one minute and like this the next. When you know what you're doing it's one thing, but it does take some years of training and experience too.

Good to see you posting my friend

That should be good fun Scotty. The mountains are great fun this year for sure.

Nice capture Pete, I was wondering why you held back there at that point.
The only exposed flesh there was my nose as I was totaly covered from the freezing winds.
You obviously knew what way you wanted the shot to turn out.
