Jemaa el-Fnaa

By TrevBatWCC
In Marrakech, the Medina is a densely packed, medieval part of the city dating to the Berber Empire, with mazelike alleys where thriving souks (marketplaces) sell traditional textiles, pottery and jewellery. It's enclosed within the 12th century walls, covering 18 km with over 20 impressive gates which encircle the old city. The heart of the Medina is Jemaa el-Fnaa, a very large main market square, used by locals and tourists. There are many shops and traditional restaurants around the square, as well as street entertainers. You'll also find the snake-charmers see the two versions. Though the snakes were real, I have to confess the one around my neck was rubber! 🐍😁

Many thanks to Kate (Irishkate), Tish, Geoff (simmo73) and Peter (Mollycat) for her User Award on my previous upload, Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech , most appreciated 🏆👍

All images were taken on my 3.2-megapixel compact Nikon Coolpix as Jpegs, and with a good bit of tweaking in Photoshop Elements 14!

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😀👍

Great interesting captures, I don't think I could get that close to snakes and smile at the same time.

Love the lead image. Brings back memories of a wonderful time there last year. I have to admit I stayed well away from the snakes.
