Ponte Vecchio, Florence

By TrevBatWCC
More from the archive, when I had a week's holiday to Pisa. I'd fancied visiting Florence, so setting off after breakfast one day, I took the train there. On arrival, headed down from the railway station and past the Cathedral, reaching the River Arno, and here the famous Ponte Vecchio. This picturesque medieval arched river bridge with Roman origins is lined with jewellery & souvenir shops, as can be seen in the version. Not the best quality, despite re-processing the original Raw files.
I always find that when I go away on holiday (well, when I used to!) wherever it may be, in Britain or abroad, I always attract other tourists, who on seeing a Big Black Camera hung around your neck, seem to think you know what you're doing and get asked if I'll take their photos with their cameras or iPhones. This happened four times in succession whilst stood on the spot in the lead image! I do always oblige, of course, being the kind person I am... 😁

Many thanks to Lynne (LynneJoyce), Peter (Mollycat) and Colleen for their User Awards on my previous upload, Planet Venice , and also to Val (Val Prowse) for her User Award on my earlier upload, Sunflower Art , most appreciated 🏆👍

Raw images re-processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection's plugins, and Photoshop Elements 2020.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😃👍

Two fine travel shots.

You and Garrath had the attraction to strangers with cameras in common. Wherever he went he would be approached by people and asked to take their photos.

Two classic shots. Days of film and 2 megapixel digital cameras when I was there. Keep intending to digitize my film images but never get around to it.
I think all serious photographers get asked to take photos of other tourists. I suspect that they assume that because you have a quality piece of kit around your neck you will not run off with their camera. Little do they know that you stole the camera you are wearing from the last unsuspecting punter GrinGrinGrin

Oh those shops Trev - how I've missed shopping.
I don't like taking photos on mobiles phones for people
and find that mobile users don't know how to take a photo
on a DSLR. I use to take half a dozen on phone snot realising you barely need to touch the screen!

I've often been asked to take people's pics too when out with the "proper" camera.
I was quite disappointed with Florence. I found it so noisy and I couldn't stand the heat. The art was good, but you get a bit overwhelmed with it after seeing so much, and I couldn't afford most things in the expensive shops. I did come home with a cruet set though, but then found I could get the exact same thing in Selfridges. Grin

Great composition in the lead and wonderful to see lots of people around Trev. My camera has got me into
trouble a few times, especially in restaurants. I've been warned not to use it, yet there are plenty of mobile
'phones taking snaps. Daft.
