There was a two minute downpour Bob but most of the heavy stuff kept to distant hills.

I think the national parks have got it just right about the accessibility to their delicate natural wonders, the distance from car parks makes you put the effort in and appreciate the surroundings, leaving the ones that aren't too interested, or ill equipped to turn back. Whilst Canyons have spectacular regular viewpoints on the road side suiting everyone.

As for people, well its very hard to miss them during the summer months around these 'must see places' i notice the pro shots have a sprinkling of snow on them, taken out of season when there's less people around. I was on a 'look see' mission here and was happy to join the throngs of tourists up the trail, hand holding the camera, although the tripod was on my back just in case Wink

Many thanks Colleen for your kind UA on this pic, very much appreciated SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Yeah we stopped at Ruby's too Ian for one night, thought we'd have a chill out night after the drive up from Las Vegas.
After sun up I took a stroll down the canyon to Thors Hammer which is about half way down, careful not to walk too far down as its a strenuous walk back up and I was feeling a bit peckish so back to Ruby's for a well earned breakfast, bacon, sausage, egg and pancakes with lashings of maple syrup SmileSmileSmileSmile

  • Road Trip

If i knew the roads were going to be that clear i would have a hired a sports car John, Wink speed limit 80 mph on the freeway and as for the desolate straight country roads, who knows ?. The 4x4 however was brilliant at being able to get back on the road after a " what the ..... " moment, some of the best sights and light are when you're driving. SmileSmile

Thanks Keith for the compliment, i could try for a discount but i'm a VW man at heart WinkWink

  • Fantastic portfolio Colleen, it's definitely one of the best i've seen with some outstanding images, the p.f. itself has become an art form with careful selection of images adding to its colour composition. Keep it up. Trev.
