Cool Blue II

By uggyy
Along the theme of the rest of this week for me, another Black and White photo.

This is also one I have put up in colour before. I just wanted to add this one in BW as an experiment to see how people felt about it.

Also been working on some new ones I will be putting up soon all going well Smile

I converted in PS, using channels and worked the curves a little. Also burned the sky in certain parts and added a bit of a gradient to the picture to give the sky more punch.

As usual comment and crits welcome.

Best looked at LARGE…

All the best, Tommy.

This composition really works well, as does the burned in sky. Smile

Excellent use of the close foreground interest of the rock, great exploitation of the portrait format to bring in the full upwards sweep of the cloud.

I don't know. I leave work, drive home, water the garden, pour a glass of very cold and very dry sherry, and in the meantime you've uploaded a crackin' good BW landscape and got an HC to boot.

Your timing is awful mate.

Nice one. Dave.

Great use of perspective, Tommy, with real punch in the B&W. Unusual to see this location other than in colour, but it certainly works!

For landscapes (inc portrait ones!), I'm not a big fan of B&W. However, this is a notable exception. You have retained the magic of the colour version here.

The rock in the foreground makes a great focal point and mimics the shape of the mountain in the distance. Clouds also provide a dramatic backdrop.
