The island of Burano in the Venetian Lagoon famous for lace making and fishing. Everywhere you look the houses are painted in bright colours which may have had its origins in the colour schemes of local fishing boats. A beautiful and fascinating place to visit. The figure on the left is my son who paid us a surprise visit while we were there.

Your son helps to make this shot, as Burano is so beautiful and as you say with striking colours, in this street with him there you also gaze off down to the lagoon, wonderfully captured.
my favourite area also Venice!

The composition works beautifully. Love that wonderful looking paving and its pattern as well as the brightly coloured houses and the figure of your son, which is perfectly placed.

Brings back memories of when I was there, a blazing hot day much similar to this Val and I agree with you it's quite a unique place. Such eyecatching colours they choose to paint their houses, including your son too helps the atmosphere of the whole image ...

I also liked the little shops with their lacy goods displayed outside. There is a famous fish restaurant there too but one look at the menu and we didn't go in LOL. Thanks for your comment Leo.

I bet the prices are sky high now, with the exchange rate so unfavourable, I remember how we had to search out the smaller cafe's behind St Mark's square in Venice itself, where the prices were more reasonable Smile

We went last October and the prices were horrendous. I'm so glad we went though, Venice is my favourite place.

It's a wonderful place to visit too Neil. The colours in this photo are not enhanced at all. Thanks for your nice comment.
