Out of the Darkness

By ValSaxby
This amazing cat is Athena a Black Jaguar. This lady can sure make you feel nervous. All the time Andy was throwing her food she was fine but once he stopped she turned her attention to the photographers. We saw her attack the fence getting her massive paw right through in an attempt to reach a tasty morsel, then next minute she was rolling on her back purring like a kitten.

Even though her ears are in tatters and her face isn't quite straight due to an encounter with another Jaguer she is still a magnificent animal and exudes power. Through her beautiful black coat you can see the jaguer markings as she looks towards you with those piercing eyes. This is one cat not to be messed with!

It was a wonderful feeling to be so close to such an animal - just the single fence between her and us and Andy to keep her occupied with some tasty morsels, but as we walked away from her enclosure I looked back and there she was watching, stalking...................

Wow Val. you've enhanced the nature of this beast by converting it to mono and leaving those eyes staring out of the frame in that menacing way. Great stuff! Smile I think she was the scariest of the day.

She was the most scary on the day, the eyes say it and so do the lack of ears certanily battle scared. Great how you have done this in Mono and kept the eyes in colour. Brilliant.. BobSmile

I do like this selective colour Val. As you say - she was one awesome cat. I think this shot also shows just how calculating her mind is. Wonder which one of us she considered a tasty morsel here WinkGrin.
Although I wanted to cuddle and stroke most of the cats, this was one that I did not wish to linger with alone. Moira
