Barry Sheene Ad

By VicBarnes
I recently came across this when I was going thru' a box of old 10x8"s. So I scanned it in, just for ePz!

Barry rarely rode a road bike because he never took a test! However, this was shot alongside the commissioned colour for a Heron-Suzuki advert and was taken at Brands Hatch (Druids Bend) when the circuit was closed. I think the year was 1979 (or 1980).

That takes me back, it would be a GS750 or 550. I`ve seen a few of those go down the road (on their sides)

Great shot, it does indeed bring back memories, I might be wrong but was that not the era when Suzuki changed their policy to making two strokes only and introduced the four stroke GS range.

Yes the GS 750 was the first 4 stroke Suzuki made and it was an instant success

Absolutely right guys. It was a GS750 and I spent the best part of a day at Brands with Pat Hennan, Steve Parrish and Bazza shooting pics for ads on the new range while they rode the different bikes. Of course, in those days the client was Heron Suzuki (the importers and concessionaires) and they wanted maximum publicity for the 4-stroke line-up. That's why they got the race team to ride the bikes.
