Pitcher Plant - Wild Flower of Nova Scotia

By VincentChristopher
Continued our walks today and came across many Pitcher Plants within " Boggy " areas...these plants are " meat " eaters.....capturing small insects and closing their petals around the bug....and as they say " the rest is history ".
My ignorance prior to finding these was that such plants would only be found within temperate rain forests of warmer climates - how wrong I am ....so at my tender young age I'm still learning
Hope you like best regards Vince

Very well taken with lovely bokeh.
I've seen Pitcher Plants at Botanic gardens in Glasgow
and I thought they were for collecting water - didn't know they
captured insects also.

I thought at first glance these were artificial plants - the curved stems looking like wood to me, and the thickness of the leaves. Very interesting, and all new to me.
