Into The Basket

By VintageRed
A return to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and in particular the art piece, Basket #7, an imaginatively titled piece that means there are 6 other ones around the World or so I understand.

Essentially it is a two storey metal grille construction and is designed to be a meditative piece (the grille is usedf deliberately to allow the outside in) but as always art means different things to different people.

For myself I do like creating an abstract from studying just one part of the installation. In this image you can see someone entering the Basket - possibly for the first time. I like that direction of the light means that the detail has been kept to a minimum.

Interested as always in your views.

Nick

I've been so hoping you would return, as you always have such a different take on this particular piece. The person looks almost surreal in this light. Terrific.

Your keen eye for a graphic composition has come up trumps here again Nick.

I like the little bits of colour on the left, and especially the figure. Good use of light and shade, great abstract feel.

The touch of red and the almost alien figure, great elements working well in this weird and wonderful abstraction.

Hi Nick, the composition is excellent and the lighting too. It is the figure that adds fascination, the silhouette and broken form created by the grill gives this shot a real enigmatic dimension. Well done.

Plays some tricks with your eyes, unless viewed large. I like the perspective of looking through semi-transparent walls into the great outdoors. Maybe just needs the verticals adjusted to really finish it off...
