Hoping for a Sunset

By VintageRed
Some days, landscape photography is a gamble.

Such was the case on this recent visit to Saltwick Bay. Here, opportunities are often limited to a small window when the tide is going to be out at an appropriate time - e.g. sunset as in this case and further matching both of those variables with a favourable weather forecast.

From where I live, Saltwick Bay is probably two hours drive away, depending I guess on what time you're going past York. So one has to place a measure of trust in the weather forecasters and decide which of the BBC's three variable forecasts you're going to believe - the TV News forecast, the ceefax forecast or the individual forecast for the nearest location from the internet site.

On this particular day the weather was supposed to be sunny intervals!!!!!! Actually that's far too few exclaimation marks !!!!!!!!!!!!! That's better - I've got that off my chest now but I suppose that's the reason for posting this shot - to ultimately lend hope to any who find themselves in similar cicumstances.

On arrival, the weather wasn't looking too hopeful. Graually however, as sunset approached we were treated to some really good light as I hope some of the previous shots this week demonstrate. Sometimes you just need to out-wait the weather.

Thanks as always for viewing and any comments you might leave.

Nick

This stands very well in it's own right, sunset or not, all the elements are strong enough to make this a real winner!

Great shot. Like it all, light, sky, detail in the fg & composition. We might have unpredictable weather, but at least that means a wide vaiety of conditions to enliven our photo collections!
