Fantastic image. Wonderful sight!

As you are aware, the long exposure has created star trails, which are a little distracting! So, as the main focus of attention is the volcano, I would be tempted to clone out these trails, leaving just a point of light for each one to record the star's presence!

Thanks for all the comments. My job is to monitor the activity of this volcano, so I get closer than most Smile

I'm very jealous. I'm a geologist that really wanted to be a vulcanologist but circumstances dictated otherwise, so I think you're a very lucky person. Great image BTW Wink

Terrific image, very original for an active volcano shot. Also reminds me of some acne I used to suffer from when I was 17!

Well it's all been said already! It's a fantastic image, and for me the star trails add interest, I wish there were more!
One question . . . . . why did you have the noise reduction off?

Wow you don't get the chance to capture an image like this everyday. Stunning shot and you're a lucky devil for getting this chance lol.

Thanks guys for all your comments - much appreciated.

@ BrianSS - I had noise reduction off as it isn't that long an exposure, the moonlight was very bright and I'm trying different combinations of settings to see which works best.
