I always avoid anything man made that isn't a lighthouse, ruined castle/abbey or a drystone wall yet this more modern structure works for me. I suspect it is that fabulous red/black almost industrial coloured sky that does it. The water is perfectly exposed too and the groyne makes a great lead in.

    Thanks all
Colours are nearing perfect and if there is no undue rain between now and then all sorts of viewpoints will be accessible too Smile

It was nearly very expensive Lesley. I heard a scratching noise as I stood up and looked down at the "naked" end of my lens minus 400 worth of filter kit. After putting everything else in the car I took the plunge, literally, and eventually came up with the holder and filters, wet but intact. Almost an expensive lesson in which I learned that, unsurprisingly, the water in the Dales is not warm in October. Dave

If you are young and fit (like Craig) you can shin down the wall from the car park. If you are old and fat (like me) you can paddle down under the bridge. I hasten to add I handed all the gear down to Craig so it was only my neck that was at risk.
