Hello, Warren, and welcome to EPZ. This is an excellent image with which to start your portfolio. I like the format you have chosen, your good focus and composition, the lines and shapes, and the inclusion of the river and bank for context. There is some water in one of the foreground boats, which is nicely reflecting the surroundings. Having said that, I think I would have also gone for some more abstract images at the same time, using those strong lines and shapes, shooting from different angles. Some of the white parts of the boats are a bit bright, but not burnt out, so your exposure is good, too. I feel the colours could be boosted a tad, but that's a personal choice. In my first modification, I cloned out a rag and bit of paper in the foreground boats, lightened the image a bit, reduced the highlights, slightly saturated the colours, adjusted some of the whites and added a touch of contrast. Minor tweaks really. My second modification shows a crop to the top, focusing all attention on the boats. My third modification is closer still, getting nearer to the abstact image that I mentioned above. My fourth modification goes truly abstract, with a rotation and crop. Just to give you some ideas. But I still love the original.
