Bleak Forcast

this is the old winding gear at Astley coal mine. though originally shot in bright sunny weather and in colouor i thought the subject suited a "grainy" black and white approach better.

Fast disappearing in this country (for better or worse I suppose) and they make excellent subjects for B&W photography in particular. As you say the grainy effect suits it.

hmmm... nice picture. real nice. i'm not sure about the "grainy" idea, but i definately like the B&W! Maybe tweak it a bit and bring out more of the cloud detail?

i did try to bring out more cloud and i was disappointed that i couldn't. it was either this sky or cut and paste another into it.
