Clematis in mono

By webjam
Yes, the story continues... Another shot in the mono series of photos that I took in our (overgrown garden) after a little bit of rain.
The lack of time to work in the garden, frustrates me, watching weeds to overtake is hard. But at these past months I have so much more priorities to do than gardening.

The mono tone treatment shows some of my frustration, especially the darkness - but also I wanted to see what happens if you take away the beautiful characteristics of a flower: often the colour.
And yet, I can still sit a while outside and just enjoy it, the flowers that don't give up, great skies and the sound of birds. I can still see through all the weeds/madness - in the garden and maybe even in life.

Hope to hear from you - please leave a comment.

Taking away the colour concentrates the eye more on the shape and form of this beautiful bloom, love the water droplets. A beautiful image, lovely texture in the petals, and good detail.

Another great photo. For some reason this reminds me of a spider!

Thank you for your comments!
Wibbles: yes, I also liked the awkward direction of the petals.

Deavellin: I first used Levels to brighten the image considerily. Then added Curves (I always use Adjustment layers so that I can tweak later). To darken and increase the photo. Then I added a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. When the image was scaled for EPZ, the base image was sharpened a bit.
So no new tricks used here, just a lot of experimentation to get the result that I had in mind.

Thanks for looking - and especially for leaving comments - your feedback is truly appreciated!
