The Wood Pecker and The Ant

hi Every one Thank you for all the votes yesterday and the U.A from Lillian... gratefully received ...I was going to put a different picture from a bird on....but i went to a nature talk at my camera club and he spoke of the wood pecker and his diet being mostly ants... and as i was checking my photos of the wood pecker, which i take regular as i have a family of them here in the garden,,and i saw this one ..and felt i wanted to share..

Love it...Their favorite food btw are ant puppaes which is also the main source of food for rearing their offspring.

If you know the ant-mounts they frequent you can easy predict when they will come - when the ants bring the puppaes closer to the surface- usually when it starts to get warm.

There are for sure quite a few of my friends who would love to have them in their garden - me included.
