Fairy Pools

By WeeGeordieLass
Thank you so much to everyone who has been kind enough to give me their UA's on my last two images of Buchaille Etive Mor and Eilean Donan Castle, and also to everyone who commented, voted and viewed my work. A quick upload of the Fairy Pools on Skye before I rush off to work again.

I couldn't wait to shoot the Fairy Pools on Skye. The streams run down from the Cuillin mountains , cascading along and creating lots of waterfalls of various sizes along the way...a photographers delight!

On the day I was there it rained on and off and, as there's no cover, all I could do when the showers started was confine my camera to it's bag and sit it out. The showers didn't last long though and I thanked goodness for my waterproofs.

To get this shot I clambered down the rocks on the side of the river and then half crawled carefully on the slippy rocks into the middle of the flowing water to a large slab of rock- not easy with a large camera bag on your back, tripod slung over your shoulder and walking pole in one hand!

When I saw my images on the back of my camera though, I did think it was worth it Smile

Many thanks
Elaine Grin

I like the light on the clouds and the low viewpoint. The rushing water really adds impact.

Only worth it if you got away unscathed, Elaine.
Looks too easy to break an ankle to me.
But ... the picture is wonderful.

I went to the Isle of Skye way back in 1986, staying in Broadford for a week. it only rained twice, once for 4 days and once for 3 days...stopping for half a day! I'd love to return there though.
A super capture here Elaine, well worth the ordeal Smile
