Tower Top

By WeeGeordieLass
Do you like this view of the top of Blackpool Tower?

I liked the contrast of colour between red and blue.

I think it may also work in black & white, with maybe some noise added to replicate the old photos taken when the Tower was first built. I think that may be my next Elements project.

I've added a mod along the lines you mentioned to give you an idea how it would look.

Oh that's lovely.

I think it's got impact, and it looks very nostalgic. I like the vignette effect.

Thanks Roger

I like the idea of this Elaine but once again, it's a very tight crop. I'd leave a bit more space around it if you can.
Apart from that, I reckon it's pretty good.

As for the idea of a B/W conversion, Roger's shown us how well that can work, so go for it!

Hopefully, we'll be seeing the results?

I would suggest you add the extra space as Bren mentions before you do anything else. The shot it good, but way too tight in the frame. If you change you background colour (the black and white boxes) to the same as the sky by clicking it with a colour sampler, all you need do is use the crop tool to select the image, then drag the left and top sides out more, click OK, and youre just about done.

Loaded 2 mods with the addes apace.

Hi Bren & Willie,

Yes I thought the lack of space would be detrimental.

On the original image there's space on the left hand side. I've tried all morning to increase the size of the canvas to give more space on the right hand side, but wasn't getting anywhere so, I lost patience (my worst trait!), and gave up and cropped the space off the left hand side. (I really must grow up and lose this impatient streak).

Now that I have some idea of how to add extra space (thanks Willie), I'll hopefully be able to improve on the shot.

Yes Bren, I'll upload my b & w attempt.

That mono looks good to me Elaine.

And you've learned how to extend the canvas without getting stroppy!

Thanks Guys,

Strop over now............
