Guildford Cathedral 2

ISO 1600, hand held 1/20sec f/4
Used Photoshop to manipulate the perspective to straighten the verticals.

Stretched it to reduce the distortion but would needs more work to make the circles completely round and the people slimmer at the bottom - but I quiite liked it as it is!

Good potential but I think the photo could perhaps be made more impactful by significant cropping and cloning out of some of the spotlights. Adjusting levels and curves to even out the lighting a bit plus touch of sharpening, may also help I've uploaded a mod - see what you think.

Thanks for the critique. It is always good to hear other points of view.

I am not sure about the cropping - I think it loses those great curves of the side arches but yours certainly does bring the focus more onto the altar. So the conclusion I reached is that we might be looking for two different photos - I was aiming for a context photo showing the atmosphere.

Cloning out the spotlights is such an obvious thing to do, now that you have mentioned it!!!

I actually prefer my higher contrast version but perhaps some of the darker areas could do with a touch of lightening.

The sharpening - I agree with - i think i forgot to do it!! oops!!

Many thanks for you comments and the time and trouble you took to give me a modification. I enjoy seeing my work through others' eyes - it usually challenges and always makes me think!

Thanks!!
