Now that I am shooting outdoors on location, I am purposefully trying to connect the model with the environment and also to connect models with each other rather than having yet another picture of a 'pretty girl on the beach'.
I find this quite challenging as you would see by all the failed attempts but occasionally I find one image that works from me.
It has struck me that I am focussing on composition more now and taking the models outside makes that task so much more complicated than a white backdrop.
Yeah I am going the other way round. Finding location work easier as engaging with the model is what I do best but my creative style is somewhat lacking sometimes. Good for you....nice to try something a little out of the box and push your limits and boundaries 
I dont understand why engaging with a model would make working on location easier.
No no John, sorry for the confusion. I meant to say that I find getting what I want out of a shoot difficult. Location work is fine for me. Engaging with the model is fine but I can never really get all the nuances to marry to get the ideas in my head to work. Whereas location or studio, you dont seem to have that problem. I don't think I worded it well. Apologies for the confusion.
