Even without the smoke this would be a fine layered image.
Quite a soothing effect in this.

P.S. My mono today was taken with an older camera which may account for the grain
but I take your point about the blue channel as I did boost the sky colour to make it darker,
and yes you're right about judges not liking noise!!! I need some monos for last comp of the year!

The smoke from Heather burning is the icing on the cake to an already excellent layered landscape image. The subtle use of colour works very well.

Wonderfully enigmatic composition, with the dark ridge and the clear water. We drove up through County Durham on Monday, I could see this going on but after a day's travelling I don't think Bill would have appreciated a request for a photography stop!

My first inclination was to enquire about the steam engine on the far side of the ridge. My second was to realise that I was still asleep BlushBlushBlush
Two images in one here: the heather landscape, and below it the abstract of light and reflection. Startling, really.

I do like the layering you have captured here, Alan!
The smoke did concern me until I read your tags!

A fascinating combination. Here they burn the blueberry fields in the autumn to get an even better crop the following year. Since blueberries are in the heath family, they must thrive on the burn.
