It's a clear case of upstairs, downstairs, Mick. The farmer's daughter is in the top hayloft hiding behind the curtain. She takes pride of place up there because only her long legs would reach the threshold. She has just gone up there for a sleep - the Z is marked on the inside of the door.

The scullery maid is downstairs; she has obscured the doorway by blocking it from inside with bales of hay. As she has managed to break the door down to get in in the first place I imagine she has a good old-fashioned scullery-maid's name, possibly Aggie or some such.

Sorry, Alan: flight of fancy. Have to encourage Mick!

Lovely contrasts, and, I should add, a rather dynamic shot in that your composition seems to cascade downwards, thus giving it a semi-abstract look. Great stuff. Regards,
