I'd be suggesting a tighter crop - if it wasn't for those few bright green leaves in the foreground. They make this crop work.
I do like the simplicity, austerity.

Thoughts of Lili Marlene, perhaps: but the place waits, not the person.
Aftermath of a summer storm?
Lots of your photos are enigmatic; this one is more so.
Good thing.

Bill

P.S.: Beamish has two Coffee Pots, the other being green. They look sedate but they can shift!

A simple but eye catching subject/composition that asks more questions than it answers.

Thanks, Ronnie, that tends to be my modus operandi ( that can't be good Latin.... better check with Bill Smile )

Thanks, Rod. But there's no such thing as a mundane subject, only a mundane treatment Smile

Empty benches make excellent subjects, and usually so very melancholic as here, especially with all the empty (and necessary) space. A superb pool of dark light under the lamp post as well.

Well said - an image that needs all the space to make it work so well. Also an image where the shadows are as important as the areas of light.

The bench is waiting for that young couple so obviously in love just out of sight... The journey through the image leads to where ever and what ever the viewer chooses. A fabulous shot Alan, simple and intriguing. Gets my vote and my UA
