Blackbird in snowstorm

By whatriveristhis
Grabbed this today through an upstairs window.

I was overwhelmed by the fantastic response to my last image, and heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who voted or commented. Of course, special extra thanks go to those who gave it their award... the most I've ever had!!!... and, as always, 'thank you' messages have been sent to all.

Very topical and another example of your amazing eye for an image from a scene others wouldn't look at twice. Pity the poor birds finding a meal in this.

In colour it could well be a Christmas card....looks like a fat, well-fed robin rather than a blackbird...

There is a sense of balance here, of equilibrium, of things being, well, "right"
Also great depth and movement, my eye is drawn in and around, back and forward.
"Grabbed through an upstairs window"....... Indeed.

The wide border adds to the feeling of looking out throug a small window. Because of the snow and high contrast, it looks like odd objects assembled to make a montage, which makes for a striking and unusual image. Allan

My eyes are trying to integrate these separate entities. This is delightfully brain teasing!

OK This is another instant UA. Random elements sitting perfectly within the square. Plus the life force of the bird.

Just fabulous Alan. To me it's about shapes all fitting together. And a bird wondering what the going on. I should have went south.

A truly odd composition, and it gains a lot of it's power because of that. It just woks... perfectly.

Beyond my love of blackbirds (my favourite songsters) I find the natural reduction of subject-matter to 'very limited' extremely attractive. A graphic image of the highest quality.
Furthermore, I subscribe to the 'snow outside, photographer inside' school of thought.
