This is lovely Alan. Is this your way of knocking together a decent poem? You must be a Real Man! Because you took a really decent flower picture.

There's something to be said for the rule of thirds - works so well in this instance. Beautiful. SmileSmile

Well you must be descended from Vikings because this is a poem. That fallen petal is superbly noticed and of course the background colours

And there was me, opening this and assuming that it was Fiona's. Make of that what you will, the single petal is poetic.

We're likely to be a bit lost if we can't appreciate how beautiful flowers are.

I like flowers, Alan.
Not that I know what most of them are, which doesn't bother me.
The single droopy petal ought to look forlorn, but doesn't. It looks unorthodox, liberated, rebellious.
I like that.

Bill

Does the droopy one represent yourself, ?Tongue Good to see you getting in touch with your feminine/Viking side (delete as necessary).
Presumably you interrupted a bout of pillaging, burning or raping to take this?

I hope you will indulge me while I regale a Viking saga which I recall from schoolboy days...

Three Viking longboats approach the East Anglian coast. The first pulls towards the beach, all the rowers perfectly in time, straight-backed, tall and proud, ship their oars vertically as one. Right said the captain, pillaging, men!
The second longboats pulls round the head and approaches. The rowers equally in time and as smart as the first crew. They too ship their oars and are sitting proud and tall. Right, said the captain, burning and murdering!
The third boat approaches. The men are all over the place, not in sync with their oars, splashing water instead of entering the water silently and without splashes, lolling around, barely able to sit upright and without the strength to raise their oars above their heads to ship them. Right, said the captain...Oh no, interjected a particularly weary crew member...not rape again!

WOW!
A beautiful image, Alan. Everything is spot on, composition, colours; just one I could contemplate for longer than i should. The droopy petal adds to the picture, like an out place strand of hair on a beautiful women. Poetry indeed .

Such a beautiful image Alan. There is so much to like; the beautiful 'whites,' the yellow almost hidden, the wayward petal and all against that wonderful background.
