Wow!! ...all those who awarded my last image...too many to mention!! Blush... heartfelt thanks to all of you!!!

...Here's another from my holiday, something a bit quieter and less dramatic, but I hope you quite like it anyway. The backdrop, barely discernible here in shadow, is the steeply wooded western slope of Place Fell.

Who pays the ferryman... The journey across the Styx, into the dark void of eternity...
OK Let's start the ball rolling on this one.

I'd like to "play ball" but all I can say is it makes me feel small!! Superb sense of mans place in the world!

Into the void was my first thought - superb composition with those streaks of silver amidst the blues
very calming on the eye.

fantastic capture, Alan.. like everything in it..
void is void.. emptiness is emptiness.. just like water is water.. air is air.. it is difficult to know without feeling..
what I understand is that it is never empty.. something rushes in to fill it.. whether in nature or soul.. that something can be many things, owing to a number of circumstances, of which some are in our hands, while some are not.. still, in the moment of weakness, we should be able to remember what is in our hands and be a complete master of it.. if we are, maybe we will not need anything else.. maybe..
there are too many contrasting elements which decide our comfort.. energy within or hunger for tranquility, dreams and fear of dreaming, a forthcoming attitude or defensive nature.. what we deem as knowledge or a constant urge to discover something of our own.. what we deem as wisdom and taking it for granted or to be able to say whatever knowledge we have attained is ineffective, too little or farce.. to be too strict on defining a person and judge and treat him accordingly or have just, in any event, the capacity to love him still..

a thought evoking image.. just a general comment..

Certainly no less dramatic. Negative space by the bucketful!

To me a big Eastern influence, be it Chinese or Japanese, it doesn't matter. Its simple and has great impact.

I love this Alan, full of drama and depth, could be the opening sequence for a Nordic TV series full of gloom and doom.

Yes, does it for me, Alan. Shed loads of negative space!

Works for me too ... makes ya realize just how puny and small humans are compared to the vast glories of Nature Smile

Really overwhelming the quiet dignity of the moment. And so well presented, with subtle tones and unusual vision. Above the cut.
