Long-tailed Tit

By WildLight
Here's a shot I took a couple of days ago at my local nature reserve.
I'm not too sure on the composition, it looks a little awkward to me, what do you think?

I hope you like this one Smile

It actually does look a little awkard, leave more space on the right instead of the left?
But i like the natural habitat, they are always high up in the trees.
Which Nature reserve?

Its a really delightful capture of an LTT Joe and Steve's remark regarding leaving more space on the right instead of the left immediately crossed my mind, but of course that might not be possible. Alternatively you could crop off more from the LH side and make it a vertical letter-box crop - that can sometimes look very elegant.
Notwithstanding the above, lovely image with super LTT pose and detail, lovely light and beautiful rich colours. Love the natural habitat.

It's a great shot, with lovely details and colour

However, as has already been said, the problem with the composition is that the bird has much more distance behind than in front of it.

I would dramatically crop it, which is a pity as the texture and colours of the branches are excellant. I'd take a slight crop off the top; a larger one off the bottom, to just below the tail; and a very large one off the lhs to make the space behind the bird the same or slightly less than in front of it!

Mind you it's still very nice as it is!

It's all been said but it is a very cute image.

Thanks everyone for your comments, you've confirmed what I felt was wrong about this pic Smile
I originally cropped it this way to make some use of the branch as a lead-in line and I wasn't sure if the bird was looking at me or off to the right, but thinking about it now that doesn't really change anything... either way, I should have done the opposite and lopped off a chunk from the left side and kept more space on the right :/

Anyways, thanks for all the comments! Much appreciated Smile

So well taken. Lovely with the blurred branches so we can see the environment.
