the Singer

By WimdeVos
This woman was singing in a club in Cairo(Egypt), and sounded just like Oum Kalsoum, the life, voice and influence of Egypt's Oum Kalsoum, one of the greatest singers the Arab world has ever produced.

"Her repertoire went from love songs to spiritual songs," said Egyptian Culture Minister Faruq Hosni, "She sang for everyone and touched city-dwellers as well as country-people, the educated and the illiterate. The entire Arab people were struck by her voice."

I took this photo in 1990 in Cairo but found it recently and converted the negative to digital.

Thank you for looking.

Nice image, though there is some noise/jpeg artifact visible at the top, presumably from the scan. There is a free program you can download called Neat Image that removes noise and may help you improve the quality of the image.
