Relationship 2

By woolybill1
A final attempt to express how the ladies of "Conversation Piece" get on with each other. Really it is for the viewer to interpret - which is the whole object of this wonderful installation. This time I have opened the stop even further to reduce the sharp area concentrated on the hand; given the distance the figures stand apart I doubt f1.8 would have been better or worse.

I hope my personal view of these ladies has given you something to think about, and perhaps some pleasure too. My thanks to all who have made such interesting and perceptive comments about the "Weebles" over the past couple of months. As you can tell, I find them immensely absorbing; I expect to visit them again soon, though perhaps not with a camera!

1/1250th sec. @ f2.8, ISO 200

Another great shot Bill, of what appears to be a different hand, but somewhat harder to interpret from this angle. Still, makes for an interesting conversation anyway.
Whatever you do, please do take your camera when you go back - I'm sure you'll have thought of another way to shoot the weebles by then.

You have a different way of looking at things....this is fascinating, and does make on speculate on what they are saying to each other. That looks like a belly laugh to me.

From my viewpoint, when I opened this up, seeing a conversation between two women, and the hands placed as they are, this question arose as the main theme of this conversation: "You're pregnant??"

My thoughts were along the same wavelength as Anne.
I thought the hand was reaching out to touch mum to be's baby bump & give it a gentle we do.
Please go back & take some more wonderful images for us to enjoy Bill.
They have been a most enjoyable pleasure to see.

Definately more than a suggestion of pregnancy/babies here. With perhaps the added question of ''who is responsible''.As you say,it is open to ones own interpretation. An interesting take with your last two images of these Ladies Bill.

I love the way you have concentrated on the hand. Lovely use of DOF. I see the weeble telling a joke and the other having a real belly laugh at it. Great work Bill.

This one and the last one are outstanding pictures. I think the sculptor would have been very pleased with your work. On a technical note, your choice of f/2.8 was spot on as it was necessary to retain some detail in the figure in the background to express the relationship between the figures. John
