Taken in Isolation 79

You may recognise the tree in the background; we have photographed it from all angles, simply because it's there . . .

The horseshoe may actually be the wrong way up.
Iron horseshoes are made by a blacksmith; historically, being a blacksmith was considered a lucky trade. Iron was deemed magical because it could withstand fire. Most horseshoes are attached to the hoof with seven nails, and seven has always been considered a lucky number. However, to keep the good luck in your home a horseshoe facing upwards in a "U" shape is said to keep evil out and bring good luck into your home. Conversely, hanging it upside down, like this one, will let the good luck flow out of your home.

While some people may consider me to be an observant chap I passed this fence-post on maybe twenty 'exercise walks' before noticing the horseshoe.

Thanks Allistair for the UA on Taken in Isolation 77, thanks also to everyone who voted and commented yesterday, and thanks for looking Smile

But if you hang it the other way up it gives the witches somewhere to sit ..................
A bit of a conundrum.

That appears to be the horsey equivalent of a size 47 boot, Bill. Possible the wearer was a Shire?
A interesting and informative introduction supports this composition. The capture works well and invites the viewer to be led only to return to the post and the ‘shoe’ - really good work.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Your write up about horseshoes is what I have always believed.......then I read you are supposed to hang them as in your image.
Since then I have believed my two horseshoes on our house redundant....I do not know what to believe anymore TongueTongueTongue
In a quandary......

Great shot and I have heard told that hanging it this way keeps the luck in.

One bird is going to have very bad luck for doing what he did. But your luck will be good. And so will that lone tree. I like this one best of all the similar ones.

The horseshoe is lucky to be still there, without somebody nicking it!
