The builder

By woolybill1
The view towards the Invalides from the Rue Lepic in Montmartre; Montparnasse in the far background.
You can see the dome of the Invalides from the outside and the Paris Dme de pollution from the inside.

Cracking shot Bill, great composition, well seen and captured.

Quite a difference in the light from the old paintings, pollution in the inner cities is still bad in some countries.

A long way to go to see a builder, especially as you have them on your doorstep now Bill !!
And I may be wrong, but I suspect your doorstep scenery will not be quite as grand as the view here.
And I may be wrong again, but I doubt your Parisian builder will be called Bob !!
A fine shot.

Excellent comp and superb viewpoint.
I've looked closely but it doesn't look as if Parisiennes suffer from builder's bum. Nice.

Looks very high, very precarious & very scary. Rather him than me.

The muted colours work well with the scene, & give it a certain old world quality. I think it would also work in mono, possibly sepia, but I think I prefer it as it is. Somehow this works better for me.

The view of the beautiful dome is wonderful. Looks like glistening gold. Great to see the man in this, gives me the feel that the man is building this city, busy at it.............Sandy

The thing that always amazes me about French architecture is how three-quarters of their buildings are still standing. It has been a while since I last crossed La Manche (or is it Le Manche - or is that a race track?) but I seem to remember dwellings seemingly held together by peeling Dubonnet and Gitanes stickers, not to mention Choky Coffee and Miko ice cream. I know you are not a Dr. Who fan, but should you ever see an episode entitled 'Vincent and the Doctor' (in which he visits Van Gogh) he returns to his carelessly-parked Tardis to find it smothered in stickers. How very French.

This is excellent Bill, very well seen. The builder at his work just like all those others in the mists of time that created the metropolis around him. An excellent viewpoint and perspective.
One of my favs of yours!

A superbly composed scene Bill, in answer to your question Mick, he'd probably be called Robert Le Macon or Robert Le constructeurSmile
