Through the Gate

By woolybill1
Squinting across the building site at Beamish Museum through the keyhole of the gate that provides vehicular access through the high hoarding to the working area. The museum is enlarging the town centre by adding a 1950's area with actual period or period-style buildings (including another fish and chip shop) and a trolleybus service. The work is part-funded by the National Lottery.

Thanks for all your valued comments and votes yesterday, and thanks for looking.

Had a similar 'squint through' last time we were there.
It's a little depressing to see houses from my childhood as a museum area 😂😂
A little like when I saw laboratory kit I trained on in the Manchester Science Museum.

Cracking image Bill.

It looks like an abandoned film set. The buildings nothing more than facades supported from behind by wooden frames...

Nicely composed shot, Bill. But like Dave I find weird that one's own life is a museum exhibit.

Love this peek a boo shot Bill. Beautifully framed.
Now 1950s really appeals to me; just seems like yesterday I would be in a queue in Sainsburys with my Mum going from one counter to another. The counter assistants patting the butter, pouring sultanas into paper cones they would instantly make.............sigh !
I must make a visit there when completed.

I like the framing of this 👍 I think another visit to Beamish will be needed when this is completed 😃

A frame within a frame, directs your eye to the building works.

It sounds like a lot is going on in Beamish. It seems to be a place worth a visit.. I, as all others who have commented, like this shot a lot. Your peeks through fences and gates are fascinating! And make one wonder about what the yards, gardens and houses have witnessed.. Here the viewer's eyes are directed towards the row of houses on the right, the most interesting feature in the yard.. Very appealing and masterly executed.

Getting a sneaky peak through the gate. It's all locked up but you've managed to get a great shot of what's happened in there.

Think we all need a visit when it's completed and we could act as extras! Ours was a Coop! You got the Divvy, (Dividend at the end of the year) by quoting your number and it was written down. Oh for our lost youth...

No awards left Bill but you can have a share of the Divvy!
