Looking over the pit village soon after the museum's opening time.
The prominent building dead centre (with the stepped roof) is the school, with the pithead building in the distance. Beyond the brick gateposts is the coal yard; the pit raa (row of miners' cottages) is out of picture to the left but the kitchen gardens can just be seen.
