As one follows a darkened corridor in the wonderful new
Musée de la Grande Guerre du pays de Meaux a large painting appears. It is also reflected in a huge mirror that hangs at an angle above, which is of course what I chose to photograph.
The painting, owing much to Delacroix, depicts the spirit of Joan of Arc leading the French army into battle. The young lady in the scarf was sitting on a bench in front of the painting.
