Oh I don't know which I prefer - such a strong portrait both work well for me. I just perhaps would not have cropped the top of his head off - shame people LIKE their heads!

I don't know if you took this in black and white or converted it but if you converted it I would experiment with a few different ways of converting it as some come out a bit softer which might actually work better because the face is so strong.

  • Eating strawberries in a sunny day!

I am surprised no one has commented on the foreshortening making her seem rather cartoon / caricature - like with a large head and small body. The harsh shadow/light combination also detracts from the rather delightful expression on her face. I would have gotten down on her level to take this photo which would have eliminated the foreshortening / perspective problem and just got her to turn her head slightly out of the direct sun (or shaded her face slightly) but as you say it is such a delightlful expression. One for the family album of treasured memories isn't it?

  • The Afterlife!

Lovely to see an effect used to such ahem good effect. Excellent frame that balances and matches the colours in the image extremely well. Well done!

Love the title too. Suitably subtle with more than one meaning. Makes you look at the photo twice which a good title should do.

Really interesting reflection. Pity in a way about the cloud behind the building as I think that distracts from what would have been a very moody and otherworldly reflection in the pond. I like the composition as the pond is nicely framed by the dark bits (grass and whatnot) around the edge.

  • Light and Darkness. Reflection.

Really nice abstract reflection that works well for me. My only suggestion (and only because my eyes go squiffy when a picture is not in balance) is that I would crop a millimeter or so off the left hand side so that the light is dead center.
